Entrance bench or end of bed

Antique storage bench (sometimes called a watch bench or cantou bench), in Louis-Philippe style (from the early 20th century). Object characteristics: The Louis-Philippe style is immediately recognisable by its simple lines, discreet mouldings, and especially its armrests ending in typical scrolls (or curls) of that era. The wood: cherry. The mechanism: The seat is divided into three parts with a removable flap that allows access to a large storage space (the chest) located underneath. It was a typical piece of furniture for country houses or entrances, serving both as a seat and storage.
