David Klein was an American illustrator known for his advertising projects for Broadway and Hollywood, but where he excelled was in creating travel posters for Howard Huges' Trans World Airlines (TWA) in the 1950s and 1960s. Work for TWA earned him numerous awards and accolades. The use of bright colors, abstract depiction of famous landmarks, cultural motifs and their design defined the poster line of the era. His works show the excitement and enthusiasm of early air travel during the post-war economic boom. This poster, used at a travel agency in Austin, Texas, features a Lockheed Constellation plane at the top flying over an abstract rendition of Times Square in New York.
