German mug Marzi & Remy to the loggers around 1940

German beer mug marzi & remy, 1940s. German beer mug in blue enamelled sandstone and gray beige. Scene of loggers at the refreshment bar. Signed on the mr hollow lapel in a cartridge, for the marzi & rémy manufacture. In excellent condition, clean, fast and neat shipment or hand delivery to paris / laon. 13 cm height. 6 cm diameter at the neck. 8 cm diameter at the foot. 10 cm width at the handle. The mr factory is located in hoehr-grenzhausen, a city in west germany. Created in july 1879 by anton marzi and his brother-in-law, simon peter remy. They developed a technique of plain sandstone, nicknamed the sandstone of owls in order to represent on their pieces historical decorations depicting the costumes, customs and local specialties of the time. These sets are mainly affixed to beer mugs, particularly in demand throughout europe - not only for its main function - but also to decorate the interiors of these traditional scenes. This decoration is a sandstone in relief, whose enamelling gives a vitrified appearance to cobalt blue. While the factory started with three potters and an apprentice, a hundred employees are working on it ten years later! The manufacture's creations are becoming increasingly popular and are exported in particular to the united states. Marzi & remy are even decorated with several awards at the universal exhibitions in brussels, dresden and amsterdam in particular. In the 1920s, several renowned designers were called upon to collaborate with the manufacture, such as kamp, mueller and ratelbeck. The house will still be very productive until the 1950s before changing owners but still keeping this history in it... Prost!.
