Freestanding Royal System wall unit by Poul Cadovius for Cado, Denmark, a rare and flexible mid-century wall unit with a clean, timeless look. This freestanding version with 3 bays offers ample storage space and is ideal when wall mounting is not desirable. Thanks to its modular design, it can easily be reconfigured, making it both practical and visually appealing. This Royal System was designed by Poul Cadovius and produced by Cado in Denmark in the 1960s. The system consists of four metal uprights, three storage cabinets, each with a shelf (one with a glass shelf), one display cabinet, one drawer unit, five shelves, six metal tension rods, and all original mounting hooks and pins. The uprights measure 30 X 3.5 X 200 (H) cm. The three storage cabinets and the display cabinet measure 80 X 30 X 33.5 (H) cm. The drawer unit measures 80 X 30 X 15.5 (H) cm. The shelves measure 80 X 24 X 2 (H) cm. The overall dimensions of the system are 204 X 42.5 X 200 (H) cm. The Royal System was originally designed in 1948 and became one of the most well-known Danish modular wall systems, appreciated for its clean lines, functionality, and flexibility. The condition of this wall unit is very good. It shows only light, normal signs of use consistent with its age. The system is stable and complete, and fully functional.
