Art Deco wrought iron mirror – Paul Kiss, Paris, circa 1930
Rare Art Deco mirror in hammered wrought iron, by the artisan blacksmith Paul Kiss, and signed “P. KISS PARIS”. Made around 1930, it powerfully illustrates the architectural elegance characteristic of the grand decorative ensembles of the interwar period. The composition, highly structured, combines a rectangular frame with a remarkable upper frieze where symmetrical scrolls and taut lines unfold, achieving a perfect balance between geometry and controlled curve. The side uprights are rhythmically adorned with undulating rods, while the base features a stepped motif reminiscent of Deco modernity silhouettes. The fine and regular hammering catches the light and highlights the artisanal character of the piece, while maintaining a sober and sophisticated presence. A characterful mirror, both decorative and sculptural, ideal for adding a prestigious and graphic touch to a contemporary interior as well as to a classic decor.
