Small mid-century decorative plate with an illegible stamped bird. Decorative plate made of earthenware or glazed stoneware, featuring a relief decoration inspired by Japanese art: a bird (most likely a stylised crane, heron, or stork) amidst bamboo/reed stalks, and some star-shaped forms that appear to be leaves or secondary birds. The glaze is particularly characteristic: dark green to turquoise, very textured, with numerous bubbles and craters (known as "fat lava, " "sea foam, " or eruptive/bubbly glaze). This type of enamel is typical of French (and sometimes German) productions from the 1950s to 1970s, often originating from workshops in Vallauris or small earthenware manufacturers in Eastern France. In good condition.
