Set of 4 GF 40/4 chairs by English designer David Rowland, created in 1964. Seat and backrest made of wood covered in white flecked fabric; chrome-plated steel frame; black plastic armrests. Good seating comfort. This model demonstrates that design must go beyond strict aesthetic boundaries to provide functionality. Designed for communal use, forty chairs can be stacked to a height of only 1.30 metres (40 chairs on 4 legs; hence its name!). The model presented here is a very recent edition from 2015; published by HOWE Europe. It is of very high quality and heavy. Very good overall condition (the chairs have been cleaned by a professional; a few discreet stains to note on some). It is also possible to have the seats and backrests redone, which can be easily disassembled. Dimensions: height 760mm (standard seat height 460mm; armrest height 652mm); width 595mm (seat width without armrests 450mm); depth 540mm. Price indicated for the set of 4 chairs (set of 12 chairs available).
