Very beautiful painting by Hippolyte Camille Delpy (1842-1910). Made in oil on wood panel, this work is probably located in the Oise (a place familiar to the artist) and represents a twilight riverside with lavenders. Good state of conservation, healthy and clean pictorial layer, to note a line in the sky, visible in photos. The frame is offered with the work (trace of wear and retouching). Dimension with frame: 40 / 48 cm, view: 22 / 31 cm Hippolyte Camille Delpy, originally from Burgundy, is the pupil of Charles-François Daubigny and travels with the Daubigny family, making excursions aboard the boat-workshop Le Botin. Thanks to Daubigny, Delpy met Camille Corot who encouraged and advised the young painter. In 1869, Delpy sent his first paintings to the Salon of the Société nationale des beaux-arts. In December 1869 he began painting snow scenes during a harsh winter. A contemporary of the Impressionists, Delpy mixed the techniques learned from Daubigny with a more lively palette and a more vigorous touch, characteristic of the generation of painters of the Barbizon school. In the early 1870s, Delpy often worked in Ville-d'Avray, the privileged site of Corot, and in Auvers-sur-Oise, he became friends with Camille Pissarro and Paul Cézanne, who shared his admiration for Daubigny.
