Pair of pressed molded glass candlesticks from Val St Lambert model Griffon

Beautiful pair of art deco candlesticks in satin and transparent pressed glass. This is the griffon model of the Luxval line created in 1935 by Charles Graffart for the crystal works of Val St Lambert in Belgium. Inspired by the creations of lalique and sabino, these models were intended as a more affordable answer than cut crystal to the competition of glassware from Czechoslovakia. One in perfect condition. The other suffered a sharp break at the base, almost invisible (see photos) Height 27.5 cm – square base 10.5 cm – weight 1.2 kg.
