Large Pepper Mill Italian Design Tre Spade in Polished Metal (Silver?)

Period: ca. 1980. This pepper mill, large and modernist, would be an attractive addition to any table. It is formed by a simple cylinder on a flared foot, with the grinding mechanism being incorporated into the cylinder design. The upper plate is adorned with grooves and this is the only ornamentation. The plate unscrews to remove the upper part, revealing the holes in which to put the peppercorns. The grinding mechanism is made of top quality steel, and is marked with 'made in italy' and 'garantito tre spade'. This company was founded at the end of the 19th century and is still active today; it is renowned for its high-quality sustainable kitchen items. The upper part has two manufacturer marks (punches) that I could not identify: an 'a&c with a papal cross' and a 'g' in a square with rounded corners. The tre spade company made several mills out of silver as well as polished tin; this one looks like silver, oxidizes like silver, (and has marks) but I can't guarantee it's money. The date of ca. 1980 is an estimate on my part based on design. Condition: very good. No damage. Some scratches (see photo). Size: see photo.
