Small painting by Michel Dufour (born in 1942, unsigned) depicting a still life in an abstract style, created in oil on thick wooden panel. The work is very beautiful with vibrant colours and lovely effects of impasto and texture. Dimensions of the panel: 8.8 / 19.7 / 2.3 cm. Michel Dufour: Michel Dufour lives and works in Burgundy in the Cluny region and by the pond of Bages in Languedoc: these are his two main sources of inspiration. The temptation of abstraction was present very early on. Over the years, the geometry of his early works gradually gave way to more fragmented forms, broader gestures, and a delight in colour. Today, his works are fluid and lyrical. His painting is freed from any cerebral constraints for a joyful celebration of colour and gesture. A great traveller, he has brought back travel notebooks that are constantly enriched. A collection of over a hundred works on paper where the gesture finds its justification in the spontaneity of emotion. In 1972, his first solo exhibition was at the Galerie du Musée in Dijon. Since then, Michel Dufour has regularly exhibited in Burgundy and Languedoc, as well as in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and abroad, including Germany, Spain, and the United States. On the occasion of an invitation to Columbus University, the Newark Museum dedicated the exhibition "Indian Journal" to him, featuring around a hundred works on paper accompanied by poems from the writer Lucette Desvignes.
