vintage rattan chest of drawers

Here is an adorable rattan chest of drawers, a classic from the 1960s that the decades have no hold on. It has a central drawer with a wooden front and two drawers decorated with rattan weaving in a remarkable state of conservation. The three drawers slide easily. The entire piece of furniture has been sanded and stripped of the original orange varnish. The top, whose uniformity of color had faded over time, was painted in a light, slightly satin beige (unikalo professional quality paint - voc a+, nf environnement standard). The parts covered with oak veneer (sides and front of the central drawer) as well as the rattan weave have been nourished and protected with linseed oil, while a clear varnish has been applied to the solid oak parts (base, frame of top and bottom drawers, crosspieces - voc a+ varnish, ecolabel). The bottom of the drawers was covered with wallpaper with geometric patterns, neutral and mixed, the color of which recalls that of the top. A small piece of furniture with timeless charm that will find its place without difficulty! Nb: this item is an old item sold second-hand and restored by hand. It therefore naturally presents traces of time and its experience. This is precisely what makes it charming and gives it a unique character. Particularly on this chest of drawers: the top has some surface irregularities due to its age (see photographs); the crosspieces each have two small holes, into which small hooks were screwed (see photographs); despite careful sanding, the sides of the furniture have some color irregularities linked to the old varnish. The central drawer handles and their small rosettes are original. The handles of the other two drawers, which had disappeared, were replaced.
