This large work by jean picart le doux is a 1950's screen print on fabric depicting place de la concorde in paris. With grey, brown and blue tones in the original wood frame, this large and impressive screen print would look wonderful above a sofa or sideboard. Jean picart le doux was a french painter and upholsterer who is credited with reviving the contemporary interest in tapestries. Born on january 31, 1902 in paris, france, he was the son of the painter charles alexandre picart le doux. He began his career in bookbinding and publishing before moving into graphic arts and in 1947, he founded the association of tapestry-cartonniers with jean lurçat and marc saint-saëns. His tapestries are extremely collectable and valuable. Height 100cm; length 147cm.
