Gino Sarfatti model 566 table lamp, Arteluce, 1960s. Black cast iron base, chrome stem, free-sliding socket. Original edition, very good vintage condition. Designed by Gino Sarfatti in 1956 and produced by his company Arteluce, the model 566 is one of the most lucid expressions of his approach to lighting: every element visible, every element purposeful. A truncated cone base in black craquelé cast iron anchors a chrome steel stem that projects forward at a near-diagonal angle. The socket holder slides freely along the stem, allowing the light to be positioned exactly where needed. No shade — instead, a "Cornalux" bulb whose upper half is treated to diffuse and contain the light, casting a warm, directed glow onto the work surface below. The cable runs unenclosed, tracing forms in the air that recall the sculptures of Calder or Munari. This 1960s Arteluce example is the black base and polished steel body version — very good vintage condition with minor signs of use. The rubber gasket typically found beneath the socket holder is absent, but the holder remains stable. A warm-white LED Cornalux bulb is included, fully coherent with the lamp's original logic.
