Stoneware vase signed Eugène Lion, in the spirit of the Jean Carriès school. This piece features a rounded naturalistic shape, with a wide circular opening and a slightly tapered belly towards the base. The decoration is animated by fine horizontal striations that rhythmically cover the entire surface, enhancing the artisanal aspect of the turning. The glazing combines deep shades of brown, ochre, black, and green, with beautiful firing effects that give the piece a mineral and authentic presence. Eugène Lion, born in 1867 and passed away in 1945, comes from a family of potters established in Puisaye for several generations. Trained in the family workshop, he developed a production closely linked to the Jean Carriès school, while asserting a personal sensitivity in the work of forms and glazes. His work is particularly recognised for its explorations of firing effects, Japonese nuances, and copper red, which contribute to his reputation among the great artists of Puisaye. A major artist, referenced in the book "Grès de Puisaye - from Jean Carriès to the present day - Marks and signatures". Dimensions: Height: 10 cm. Diameter: 8.5 cm. Signed. Perfect condition.
