Afghan Ziegler rug, handmade in wool: 305x250 cm

This Afghan Ziegler rug captivates with its elegance and warm colour palette, where the garnet red and old pink of the central field converse with the shades of golden beige, honey, and ivory of the borders. Its abundant floral decor, composed of stylised flowers and delicately intertwined scrolls, is inspired by the grand classical motifs of the 19th century, reinterpreted in a softer, more patinated spirit. The composition is distinguished by a red central field, rhythmically adorned with a profusion of plant and floral motifs, framed by a wide border in golden and cream tones. The whole offers a beautiful balance between ornamental richness and softness of colours, with an antique charm that fits well in both classic interiors and contemporary decor. Entirely hand-knotted in wool, this rug features a short pile that subtly plays with light on its surface. Depending on the direction of the pile and the angle of view, the reds may appear more intense, lighter, or slightly nuanced. The treatment traditionally associated with the Ziegler style, favouring softened colours and a slightly aged appearance, enhances its authentic character and antique-inspired aesthetic. Its natural patina, irregular shades, and generous floral patterns give it a warm presence, without ostentation. More than just a decorative rug, it adds depth, texture, and personality to a space. Dimensions: 3.05 X 2.50 Metres. Condition: beautiful patina from use of the wool, with shades of tones. Note regarding colours: in the red field, a difference in tone may be observed depending on the direction from which the rug is viewed, with abrashes of wool. Regarding storage: a slight odour related to storage may sometimes be present. It tends to dissipate after a few days of airing. Shipping by carrier only in France.
