With his swedish wife, sigrid wahlström, also an artist, he moved to stockholm in 1919 and opened a studio there. He is particularly known for his portraits and live nudes. During his career he received many important assignments, including several from swedish dignitaries. In his portraits he strove to capture the spirit of the person depicted and at the same time to achieve the greatest possible likeness. His works are also exhibited at the maritime museum in gothenburg and in the collection of the swedish ministry of foreign affairs.
