Maison Lecan presents this coffee table by Robert (1930-2008) and Jean (1930-2015) Cloutier, French ceramists whose work under the ZG2 label is now actively sought after by collectors of 1970s design. The top is made up of glazed ceramic tiles forming an immediately recognisable graphic composition: a glossy black background, tightly spaced vertical white lines, and raised red and orange ellipses arranged rhythmically across the entire surface. The interplay between the geometric rigour of the grid and the organic character of the raised forms is typical of the Cloutier's universe. The ceramic is in generally good condition, with some slight superficial signs of use that are normal for a piece of this age. The structure is made of black lacquered metal, simple and well-proportioned, with its horizontal crossbars and patinated brass fixing details framing the top without competing with it.
