Description
Sumptuous and large weekly cabinet which has the aura of furniture of its time: finesse of design, beauty of materials and ideal proportions. The blond mahogany is enhanced here by original marble and golden ironwork. It opens with only six drawers, the last two forming only one trompe l'oeil (original work too). There are two round, golden handles on each facade as well as beautiful old keyholes in the same style. The uprights, in a geometric break with the facades, plunge towards the gilded feet. We note some tiny veneer repairs on the right side, at the top (see photo), a small one on the same side at the bottom, and a few usual defects for a piece of furniture that saw louis xvi, napoleon, etc. But nothing that alters its aesthetics or its solidity. It is in excellent general condition. When we remove the very elaborate drawers, we come across the heart of the piece of furniture: a rougher structure with raw materials where we can still see the traces left by the carpenter's tools. Even the smell, a striking piece of furniture.
