Antique Japanese antimony box

Antique japanese antimony trinket or jewellery box dated early 20th century. Made from metal antimony with a remnants of copper plating on the sides. Antimony was widely used in japan for decorative goods. Decorated with beautiful three dimensional chrysanthemums on the lid and birds and weaves on the sides. Inside lined with navy silk/ satin fabric. Very good vintage condition. Plating worn off on the sides, which gives the box a nice patination effect. There is a tear in metal next to a hinge (please see photos). This is quite common with antimony boxes as this metal is relatively soft. The tear does not affect opening and closing of the lid. Fabric in good condition with no holes but some signs of past use. Dimensions: Lenght: 16.5cm (6.5in) Width: 9cm (3.5in) Height: 7cm (2.7in) Weight: 950 grams.
