Decorative blackened carved wooden bowl, dark vintage patina from Southeast Asia.

Rare magnificent decorative bowl made of turned tropical wood, featuring a dark, deep, and uneven patina, revealing what appears to be a layer of reddish earth in places. The black patina may result from a traditional treatment of the material, darkened by burning or smoking or other methods. Wood carved from solid mass, handcrafted in Southeast Asia, most likely of Indonesian origin, vintage from the 20th century. Approximately 16.5 cm in height with a diameter of 22 cm. It has an original crack in the mass of the wood on one side of the bowl as well as on one side of the foot, exposing reddish earth, along with two small worn spots on the original rim, and other minor wood defects that do not affect the object and are in keeping with its character. The interior of the bowl shows an old stain, possibly a knot in the wood or a result of the treatment. The underside was previously fitted with a protective felt. Approximately 450 g.
