For sale is a magnificent authentic antique painting, an oil on canvas from the late 19th century depicting a lively countryside landscape. Artist: Signed in the lower left L. HENRY and dated '98 (1898), a characteristic work of the style of Lucien Félix Henry (1850-1896) or his immediate circle (Barbizon School). Subject: Bucolic and pastoral scene. In the foreground, a figure walks along a dirt path lined with trees and embankments. In the background, a charming village is outlined with the steeple of its church under a bright, cloudy sky. Total dimensions (with frame): 62 × 49 cm. Condition and technical characteristics: Original canvas: Old linen canvas in excellent condition. The work has remained "in its original state", it has never been restored or re-stretched (no patches, no tears). Frame: Mounted on its original key-frame, the wood shows a beautiful patina of natural oxidation. Old fastening by seeds (forged nails). Frame: Sold with its rectangular moulded period frame in patinated gilded wood, which perfectly highlights the scene. Inscriptions: Presence of an old handwritten inscription in pencil on the back of the frame (inventory or workshop reference). A very beautiful collectible piece, sound and ready to be hung. Ideal for authentic, classic decoration or for a collector of 19th-century landscapes.
