Very large and magnificent curved travel trunk probably from the 19th century, in its original condition but in good condition for its old age. Wicker structure, tarred canvas cover, numerous leather fasteners. Brass lock (without key) I think. Interior covered with a fabric similar to linen. The underside of the trunk was reinforced by the addition of wooden strips and runners to prevent the already damaged tarmac from rubbing on the ground and deteriorating further. Reinforcement, very practical because it allows you to move the trunk very easily just by pushing it, sliding it. This trunk is a light Moynat trunk style. “light” because wood was replaced at the time by lighter wicker for traveling. The trunk is curved because originally these trunks traveled in stagecoaches, on the roof of cars: the trunks were not protected from bad weather, the lid was curved in both directions so that the rain could flow from one side to the other. 'other. The sound of the trunk when it opens takes us back in time...it's an experience. Impressive depth. Place of honor for this old soul in your home.
