Painted Folk Art Bridal Cupboard

Extraordinary antique bridal cupboard made of pine dating from 1838. What is special about this copy is the heavily worn paint and the colorful mix of colors. For example, parts of the cabinet are painted in a marble motif and the panels are decorated with amphorae and flowers. The colors are mainly blue, pink, yellow and green. In addition to the characteristic weathered paint, the cabinet has some old repairs on the left and right, for example a piece on the door has been replaced and so have the legs. Occasionally some old woodworm traces can be observed, these have of course been checked and treated. All our bridal wardrobes have been checked and, if necessary, restored, although the characteristic appearance of these examples has been retained. The original lock with key is still present and works in good order. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. The cabinet can be transported in two parts. All in all, a beautiful piece of folk art from southern germany (oberallgäu) that is more than 185 years old. 193cm high, 148cm wide, 72cm deep.
