This is an amazing stack of 8 mixed hunting/game bird plates and bowls, in eight different designs, a "ready-to-display" set for your china hutch/vintage dresser. Ideal for decorating kitchen walls or for celebrations/ weddings/ shabby chic dinner parties. This is a "one of a kind" plate collection, sumptuously ornate plates, rare and collectible. Beautiful landscape illustrations, in an autumnal palette that is timelessly elegant. All these plates are french, dating from the 1920's to the 1980's. Altogether they weigh 3.6kgs/ 8 lbs! The stack is made up of: One large "limoges porcelain" dinner plate, with a wide border, measuring 22cms / 8½" diameter. The motif has two partridges. Three dinner plates by "porcelaine de sologne", measuring 23cms/ 9" diameter. They are deep sided too, 3.5cms/ 1¼", so that the meat can be served with sauces and dressings, without risk of spillage. They have a fluted, gold "line" edge and show pairs of pheasants, ducks and snipe in their natural habitats. One medium dinner plates, measuring 24cms diameter, with a wild boar image. The colours and details of the illustration are incredibly accurate and realistic. One porcelain plate measuring 23.5cms/ 9¼" diameter, with a "filigree" lace gilt edge pattern and a pair of snipe design. Two "p.l. Emaux de limoges" porcelain bowls, measuring 23cms/ 9" diameter X 4cms/ 1½" deep. They have a stag and partridge motif. They are all in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye. They may have the faintest wear to the gilding and motifs, consistent with their age and use, and the faintest beginnings of "hairline crackle" to the glazes, which is to be expected with the age of these plates, and in no way detracts from the beauty or quality of this beautiful plate stack. They have many years of service yet to offer.
