Pair of Gilt Bronze Fire Dogs – Louis XVI Style – Late 19th Century. A superb pair of gilt bronze fire dogs, richly decorated in the Louis XVI style. Each piece features a flame vase, garlands, rosettes, and an openwork gallery, all characteristic of the Neoclassical style. The bronze work is fine, precise, and of very high quality, typical of late 19th-century French production. The undulating bases rest on sculpted feet, lending elegance and presence to the whole. These fire dogs are a remarkable decorative piece, perfect for enhancing a fireplace and complementing a classic or Haussmann-style mantelpiece.
