We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent original side bergère from around 1825, ebonised and gilded, hand-painted in the Baltimore style. A highly collectible and well-crafted piece, rare and significant. Classified as Baltimore “Fancy” furniture due to its ornate painted details, rich in American history. The frame features its original ebonised finish highlighted by gilded accents and hand painting. The chair has been sympathetically restored, including light cleaning of the wood, hand-applied conditioning wax, and hand polishing. The frame has been checked and secured as needed, solid and ready to last another 200 years. Dimensions: Height 78 cm, Width 42 cm, Depth 51 cm, Seat Height 45 cm. Vintage and original period items like leather seats always exhibit a natural patina in the form of creases and wear; annual waxing is recommended.
