The zodiac and the eclipse, engraving, eighteenth century

This interesting and rare eighteenth-century astronomy engraving depicts an eclipse of the sun and another of the moon. Entitled "the zodiac and the eclyptics", it explains what the zodiac is and its main uses. The french texts develop many observations on the zodiac. In the center we find the illustrations of the different eclipses. The text and the drawing are surrounded by an engraved frame composed of various plant motifs and shells but also scientific objects. This engraving is enhanced with watercolor. Very interesting object for a cabinet of curiosity.
