An impressive pair of table lamps, each featuring a Singha lion in gilt bronze. The Singha is the mythical temple guardian of Thailand, depicted with a flaming mane, open jaws, and a finely engraved body with scale and leaf motifs. Such guardians traditionally stood in pairs at the entrances of temples and palaces, symbolising protection and good fortune. Both lamps are identical, cast from the same model, and finished with a deliberately applied antique patina, allowing the dark bronze and greenish tones to show through. Each lion stands on a wooden base, with a dark metal lamp stem, double socket, and a large hexagonal cream shade with brown trim. The lamps are suitable for the American market due to their large sockets. They are ideal for Hollywood Regency, chinoiserie, classic, colonial, modern, or eclectic interiors. Condition is good, with intentional patina and no missing parts. The lamps are functional and the shades are clean and undamaged. Dimensions (per lamp): base 15 cm wide X 21 cm deep, 68 cm high; shade 35 X 65 cm, 31 cm high. Material: gilt bronze (lions), wood (bases), metal, fabric shades. Period: 1970s. Origin: Thailand. Sold as a pair.
