Pierre-Antoine Cluzeau (St Mandé 1884-1963 Saint-Maur). "Marais de Bonneuil, effet de brume dans la forêt". Oil on canvas on wooden frame. Height 33 cm, width 22 cm. This small landscaped window offers us a summary of nature in a skillfully balanced composition. Thanks to a palette of pastel colors punctuated by a few more saturated touches and arranged sparingly, this painting exudes a delicate and vaporous atmosphere where we can let our thoughts float... The object of the painter's research here is the misty atmosphere of the morning. A proposition that evokes the research of 19th century landscapers and then impressionists in their direct relationship with nature and in the pictorial restitution of the artist's sensitive experience. Cluzeau was a complete artist, attached to capturing his era and his environment in all their components: the landscape, urbanization, and his contemporaries (notably in the context of the First World War). His talent was appreciated and recognized during his lifetime through the many exhibitions and fairs in which he participated. Some of his works have also been included in public collections (Musée du Havre, Lisieux, Saint-Maur, carnavalet, etc.). A retrospective was dedicated to him at the Villa Medicis in Saint-Maur in 2008. The canvas is in good condition, no major defects to report.
