Tray signed Boli alias Louis Bollinger pyroengraved watercolor decoration Noirmoutier

Beautiful and large carved wooden top with two side handles, richly chiseled, with a decoration under glass representing noirmoutier made by pyrogravure and enhanced by a pretty turquoise in watercolor. The tray is a little loaded but the "painting" is really very pretty! The handles are decorated with two bronze-colored metal rings. It is the work of a famous alsatian artist, louis bollinger, alias boli, who created a small factory called "bimbeloterie factory" in strasbourg in the late 1800s. He created decorative and sometimes utilitarian objects, often using marquetry, but also pyrogravure with the addition of colors to watercolor. The decorations often represented alsatian landscapes and monuments but we also find, more rarely, more distant decorations because he sent his employees across france to represent tourist places. This object does not hide its hundred years: some gaps on the dark varnish, and stains on the glass and unfortunately a shine on the glass, in a corner, because I wanted to disassemble the tray hoping to clean the glass... I managed, by sliding, to disassemble the flat part (see photo, it was taken before the breakage, the same for those that show the tray from all angles)... But I didn't manage to remove the glass and worse, I broke it by putting this part back in place... Grrr... It is up to you to see, therefore, if you want to use it as it is, it is still possible, the shine remaining well enclosed in the whole or if you want to change the glass, or the other possibility: disassemble the whole to keep only the "watercolor pyroengraved painting" and find a frame that would put it nicely in value, as a work of art in its own right, and it would be well deserved, it is a work so beautifully and finely executed! It measures 56 cm by 29 cm, height of 9 cm max at the handles, it weighs about 1.7 kg.
