Phonograph / gramophone cabinet

This type of furniture was very common between the wars for listening to records. Antique phonograph cabinet in veneered wood, early 20th century. This cabinet is designed to accommodate a mechanical phonograph in its upper section, accessible via a hinged lid. It is equipped with a spring-driven mechanism operated by a side crank. The front features: A glass section allowing visibility or protection of the mechanism. A lower compartment with doors for record storage. The whole piece rests on carved feet, with decorative moldings typical of interwar productions. Original function: music listening + record storage.
