Vintage set of armchairs grete jalk made by france and son, 1960 denmark. Beautiful vintage teak wooden model 118 armchairs. The armchair was designed by the danish designer grete jalk and produced by france and son. The frame is made of solid teak and has very nice details such as the armrest or the beautiful curved backrest. The armchair has new cushions and the inner foam is also new, so the seating comfort is perfect. The combination of the wood and the color of the fabric is beautiful. Grete jalk. Recognized as an important danish modernist designer - working at a time when women were a rarity in the design world - grete juel jalk was born in copenhagen in 1920. She trained as a cabinetmaker at the design school for women in copenhagen between 1940 and 1942; she completed her education at the danish royal academy under the highly influential designer kaare klint. In 1946 she won first prize at the annual cabinetmakers's guild competition; five years later she received much praise for her designs which were exhibited at the milan triennale in 1951.
