Description
Mid century retro vintage teak sideboard 1960. An absolutely brilliant example of mid-century designer furniture. This piece is made of beautiful teak wood. With its sleek and straight shapes, it gives a very luxurious feeling. A double door cabinet on each side gives this piece of furniture a lot of storage options and two spacious drawers in the middle. This piece is a fantastic addition to any home. Meredew began in the nineteenth century in islington, together with hard & austin, who supplied mirrors for mantelpieces and dressers, made by daniel meredew. Frederick hard took over meredew's furniture business and, when he decided to expand, moved the business to a purpose-built factory in dunhams lane, letchworth, in 1914. After the war, the company hired its first personnel designer; alphons loebenstein, a 57-year-old german emigrant whose ideas revolutionized the company. Loebenstein convinced fred hard to abandon meredew's traditional designs for a range of modern furniture. Between 1950 and 1965, the company's turnover grew about 40 times. In a good used vintage condition with some minor traces of use typical for a piece of that age. W 200cm X d 44cm X h 72, 5cm.
