Golden Wood Type Mirror With Berain Decoration

Period: ca. Mid 20th century this rectangular mirror is a modern production but has a very nice antique appearance and is of good quality. The frame is made of wood and plaster and has been coated with what looks like gilding (these 3 layers being the essence of gilded wood) but this is a coating of a molded composite material. The color of the gold is a beautiful dark golden color with an aged appearance. The type of baroque decoration on the frame is known as the berain style and is named after an influential late 17th century designer who worked for louis XIV. The beveled mirror glass is in mint condition. Condition: good except for a few areas of discreet surface chipping to the frame (see photos). The mirrored glass is perfect.
