Original wall shelf by Swedish designer Nils Strinning 1950s Made up of three teak-veneered solid wood shelves and 2 black lacquered metal ladders to attach to the wall in good condition. No rust. Slight signs of wear on 1 of the shelves. Very good vintage condition. Practical, it is suitable for all living spaces. Careful packaging. Tracked shipping. Iconic design from the mid-20th century, this "bookshelf" was offered in 1949 by N. Strinning and his wife Kajsa during a competition launched by Bonnier, the largest publishing house in Sweden. A refined design composed of “ladders” made of black lacquered metal cables and three shelves. It was chosen from 194 designs from around the world participating in the competition. Success immediate commercial, the shelf can extend to accommodate a growing collection of books. Still as relevant today as it was 70 years ago, it presents a flexible, lightweight and easy to transport system. this element of Scandinavian design has received more than 15 prestigious national and international awards such as the Gold Medal at the Milan Triennale in 1954 and was included in the design collection of the Swedish National Museum in 1979.
