Day bed SCAL by Jean Prouvé, circa 1955

Daybed SCAL designed by Jean Prouvé, in its variant with a pivoting shelf created in collaboration with Charlotte Perriand, circa 1955. The structure in black lacquered metal features a black tufted mattress and a cylindrical bolster. At the ends, the wooden panels form the bed frame, while the pivoting wooden side shelf provides a small surface directly from the bedding. This version combines Jean Prouvé's rational construction with Charlotte Perriand's research on the uses and versatility of domestic furniture. Seat height: 41 cm. Edition: Steph Simon, circa 1955.
