Coffee table by Janine Abraham (1929-2005), circa 1950. Round table made of bamboo and rattan. On 3 legs, its top is equipped with 3 handles crafted from wicker. In very good condition. Beautiful honey-colored patina. It has been fully treated with linseed oil. It is perfectly healthy, stable, and immediately usable. It will be perfect as a side table, in a living room, on a terrace… Height: 57 cm. Diameter of the top: 67 cm. Small signs of wear consistent with age and use. Janine Abraham is the daughter of teachers from Auvergne. She discovers a strong attraction to drawing at an early age and wishes to become an illustrator. On her father's advice, she joins the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. She stays there for two years and prefers to focus on furniture design by entering the Camondo School. Graduating at the top of her class in 1952, she interned with decorators René-Jean Caillette, where she learned about rattan, and then with Maxime Old, her former professor of contemporary decorative art.
