Swedish armchair from the 1960s/70s with a chrome-plated tubular steel frame and brown leather upholstery. The seat and backrest feature button-tufted upholstery and are complemented by a padded headrest and armrests. Swedish armchair from the 1960s/70s, characterized by the contrast between its lightweight chrome-plated tubular steel structure and the generous brown leather upholstery. The frame remains almost entirely visible, following the profile of the seat and backrest, with casters fitted to the ends of the legs. The upholstered section is conceived as a soft ensemble supported by the metal structure. Seat and backrest feature deep button tufting, a treatment repeated on the substantial padded armrests. At the top, the padded headrest cushion is secured to the back of the backrest by two leather straps. The beige canvas support also remains visible at the rear. This solution makes the chair’s construction particularly legible: an essential supporting structure carrying a series of generous, articulated upholstered elements. The design reflects the experimentation of the 1960s and 1970s with armchairs featuring exposed metal structures, where the frame is no longer concealed by the upholstery but becomes an integral part of the composition. In this example, the technical, linear character of the chrome-plated steel is counterbalanced by the softness of the leather, the depth of the button tufting and the substantial proportions of the headrest and armrests. Good condition. It may show signs of age. Please pay attention to the photographs. AG045
