A vase from the 1970s, produced at the Hortensja Glassworks in Piotrków Trybunalski, made entirely of transparent, colourless glass with a cool, neutral tone. Its form tapers harmoniously towards a solid base, ensuring stability and balanced proportions. The surface is decorated with a distinct, raised pattern of cut diamonds, giving the whole a geometric texture typical of Central European modernism of the 1960s and 1970s. The glass is thick, with a shiny, highly reflective finish that highlights its clarity and striking gloss. The lack of decorative colour inserts and the raw, minimalist form indicate a conscious use of minimalist detail. The rim is precisely aligned and polished. The piece is in very good condition, with no visible scratches, chips, or signs of wear – there are also no signs of any repairs or restoration. This vase reflects the industrial rhythm of 1970s Poland: the geometric network of cuts creates a subtle relief that enlivens the glass, allowing light to scatter inside, like an echo of days gone by. The form is unobtrusive yet expressive – it speaks of functional aesthetics, where craftsmanship meets modernist restraint. It is an object that could tell a story of family tables, focused glances, and ordinary moments in the unique setting of a PRL-era home. Every edge and reflection of the glass recalls the former pace of everyday life, now preserved in crystalline matter. The vase can be used solo, as an independent decorative element on a low sideboard or shelf, where daylight will emphasise the cut structure, or as a minimalist background for a single flower or branch. It pairs well with other mid-century modern objects – glass, ceramics with simple lines, or against natural wood. In arrangements kept in mid-century modern tones, or more eclectic ones, it helps build a calm, orderly rhythm of composition, highlighting the nobility of the material and the discipline of the form.
