19th century mahogany display cabinet
A mahogany bookcase from the early 19th century, crafted in a sober Neoclassical style with Empire influences. The bookcase has two doors fitted with diamond-patterned metal mesh, originally intended to protect the books whilst keeping them on display. The top is finished with a geometric dentil moulding, whilst the base rests on four straight legs with subtle arched recesses. The interior features several height-adjustable shelves. The doors are fitted with brass fittings and a lock that works well. The mahogany has a warm reddish-brown colour with a beautiful, visible wood grain. For an additional charge, the mesh can be replaced with glass. Dimensions: 152H X 95W X 36D cm.
