The designer brothers Uno & Östen Kristiansson are known for their lighting and mirrors and were particularly active from 1950 to 1970 in Sweden. They were prolific designers with a clear aesthetic, easily identifiable as "The Scandinavian Modern." Although there is little biographical information about the duo, their work is highly valued by vintage enthusiasts and is now in great demand in the vintage market. In 1950, Uno Kristiansson founded his own factory, Luxus, also located in Vittsjö. There, he produced indoor and outdoor lamps, furniture, and mirrors, designed by the two brothers. Their collections were launched in Sweden and across Europe in 1950. In 1968, Luxus presented a collection of lamps with brightly coloured shades that perfectly captured the spirit of the 1960s. They are said to have been designed by the renowned Finnish textile artist Marjatta Metsovaara (1927-2014). Like many of their Swedish contemporaries, the Kristianssons favoured teak in many of their creations, but they were not hesitant to use glass, plastic, leather, or acrylic. Notable achievements of the brothers include the Plafo ceiling light in acrylic (1950s), the UFO lamp (1950s) in opal glass, the hunting chair model 204 (1954), and a series of minimalist mirrors from the 1960s that reflect the style of Jacques Adnet's circular mirror (1950), originally produced by Hermès.
