A pair of hand-painted Italian majolica plates, featuring a stylised rooster surrounded by a profusion of vegetation with free and spontaneous lines. The design combines turquoise foliage, small black dots, and raspberry pink touches in a very lively, almost naive composition that evokes the popular artisanal productions of southern Europe. The decoration exhibits a true graphic energy: the central rooster, treated in checkered blue-green tones, provides an immediately decorative presence. Each plate has its slight nuances of paint and small manual variations that enhance the artisanal character of the whole. Marked on the base FS 18: Deruta Etrusca is part of the Italian workshops in Deruta, a historic centre of ceramics in Umbria, renowned since the Renaissance for its hand-painted majolicas with colourful and expressive decorations. In good vintage condition, with a small old chip visible on the edge of one plate (see photos). Diameter: 19.5 cm. A duo with a free and generous design, featuring Italian charm and an immediate graphic presence.
