Unique piece from the "Carrara Quarry Table" series designed by James Wines for Castigliani in 1989. Composed of four elements in Arabescato marble forming two bases, the table evokes a marble quarry in the process of extraction. Fragments of stone deliberately placed at its base enhance this illusion of erosion, while a thick transparent glass top rests on the whole. Founder of SITE, an art and environmental design agency established in New York in 1970, James Wines develops a body of work at the intersection of art, architecture, landscape, and design. This table is emblematic of this approach, transforming a functional piece of furniture into a true sculpture. Edition: Castigliani, Italy, 1989.
