Italian Rococo Style Cartouche Mirror Painted with Floral Motifs

Date: ca. 1970 this cartridge-shaped mirror is in the style of florentine and venetian rococo mirrors and furniture painted with floral motifs. It has a carved crest made up of shells and other carved rococo designs such as scrolls, flowers and foliage. The colors are pastels having green to pink hues, with the groups of small flowers painted on a cream colored background. The glass has some tarnish marks. It is made of a very light wood, probably balsa. Condition: good. The glass has some stains. One of the flowers carved on the top has been glued back on but this repair is only visible from the back (see photo). Dimensions: 40 cm high, 25.5 cm wide, 1 cm deep.
