Vintage Sommerso red and uranium glass ewer vase, Murano style.

Exceptional vintage decorative jug made of multi-layer blown glass. The body of an intense ruby red is paired with a yellow-green glass that reacts to ultraviolet light. Under a UV lamp, the piece reveals a spectacular neon green fluorescence, visible in one of the photographs in the listing. Its very elongated silhouette, long asymmetrical spout, hot-applied handle, and wide, flattened base give it a particularly sculptural presence. In natural light, the red glass contrasts with the yellow-green parts visible at the base and handle. The construction and layering of colours correspond to the Italian tradition of Sommerso glass. Production in the Murano environment seems plausible given the shape, colour work, and glass-making technique. However, the exact glassmaker and designer could not be identified with certainty. The piece is not signed. In very good vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or restorations. The small bubbles, filaments, and slight irregularities visible in the glass are related to the handmade production and do not constitute damage.
