Neo-Gothic polylobed mirror in carved and gilded wood – 20th century An important and highly decorative mirror in carved, painted, and partially gilded wood, in the Neo-Gothic style, dating from the early 20th century. The frame features a remarkable trilobed upper section in the shape of a Gothic arch, highlighted with mouldings and gilded fillets. The drops of the arch are adorned with relief-carved leafy motifs, characteristic of the Neo-Gothic decorative vocabulary. The lower part rests on an overhanging crossbar decorated with an openwork frieze of arcature motifs, finished on each side with sculpted elements forming small feet. The old finish in reddish-brown tones enhanced with gold presents a beautiful patina, with wear, small losses, and signs of age visible in the photographs, which contribute to the authentic character of the piece. The mirror retains an old glass showing some alterations and pitting. An architectural piece of great presence, ideal for an old home, an entrance, or above a console. Period: early 20th century Style: Neo-Gothic Material: carved, painted, and gilded wood Dimensions: H. 115 × W. 86 cm approximately.
