This antique garden table combines a cast iron base with a solid pine top made from planks. It originates from Central Europe, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, when iron was worked by sand casting and pine was reserved for outdoor tops. The base features a central medallion with two rampant lions framing a fortified door between two crenellated towers. This is a municipal emblem, of the type that European foundries cast in their urban and garden furniture models. No foundry mark remains to establish its exact origin. The legs resolve into two opposing scrolls on each side, connected by crosspieces with a beaded relief edge. The top is made of pine planks held together by crosspieces on the underside, with joints opened by time. The light paint on the cast iron has worn away to reveal rust on the edges and supports. The pine has lost its colour and shows raised grain, hollow knots, and water marks. The contrast between the light metal and the weathered wood defines the character of the piece. It finds its place on a terrace or in a garden, and equally indoors as a dining table with an industrial character. Its openwork base lightens the overall appearance and complements a contemporary or bistro decor. Details. Dimensions: Length 120 cm – Depth 71.5 cm – Height 77 cm. Style: Art Nouveau.
