Frankfurter kitchen cabinet by margarete schütte-lihotzky for haarer hanau, germany, 1929. Beautiful and rare wall mounted spice cabinet in black and white lacquered wood at 16. Aluminum chutes and 10 small glass spice containers. The caps of the spice containers are marked 'original haarer hanau a. M.' Very good general condition, with its patina and traces of time. Three spice containers have broken screw threads. In 1925, engineer otto haarer developed "economic cuisine" on the basis of professional studies. Otto haarer already had a number of patents when he and his wife anni met ernst may (1886-1970), the frankfurt urban planning officer, at an exhibition organized by the association of agricultural housewives in hanau in february 1926. There was a fruitful collaboration with the frankfurt building department and the architect margarete schütte-lihotzky (1897-2000), who was able to build on the experience of the haarer company with cooking cans, pan cabinets and pantries and new types of food containers during the development of the "frankfurt kitchen"...from 1926, ten thousand equipped kitchens of ernst may's housing estates in frankfurt were equipped with the patented aluminum chute "original haarer", which combined the properties of a drawer with those of a watering can. Size: Height: 77 cm. Length: 50 cm. Depth: 28 cm + 6 cm handle.
