Féret desk or system table

Féret desk or system table known as “à la Tronchin” from the 19th century, adjustable and tiltable. In perfect condition, all metal parts are original and none are missing, the mechanism for adjusting the height and tilt of the top is intact. A rare and charming piece whose small size suits all spaces. In February 1888, Le Technologiste dedicated several pages to the “School furniture and family work table — A. Féret System.” The article names A. Féret, 16 rue Étienne-Marcel in Paris, as the inventor and explains that his tables are designed to allow for alternating work while seated or standing. It also describes a model with variable tilt intended for designers, as well as for “engineers, architects […] and office workers in general.”.
